On December 11th, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) held the "Invest in China" Middle East--Special Promotion and China Industrial-Middle East Capital Connectivity Event in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (the UAE). Ling Ji, Vice Minister of MOFCOM and Deputy China International Trade Representative, and Zhang Yiming, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, attended the event and delivered speeches. It was also attended by Zhao Haiying, Executive Vice President of China Investment Corporation, Zhang Xiaodong, Vice President of Bank of China, and relevant responsible persons of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Investment of the UAE. During the event, 40 Chinese enterprises from new energy, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, information technology and other fields negotiated and established connectivity with more than 70 Middle East sovereign wealth funds and investment institutions, some of which held roadshows on site.

Ling ji said that this "Invest in China" event was held to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Arab countries so as to help deepen the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. China is comprehensively promoting a Chinese path to modernization with high-quality development currently, and developing new quality productive forces in line with local conditions, which give rise to the emergence of many high-quality enterprises in emerging frontier fields, with broad space for investment. Innovation is an important bond linking the Chinese market and Middle East capital. China actively encourages the venture capital and private equity investment, by revising and improving Measures for the Administration of Strategic Investment Made by Foreign Investors in Listed Companies, and supports the development of science and innovation enterprises. China welcomes the Middle East capital to take advantage of China's development opportunities and deepen cooperation with China's industrial innovation.

The participating Middle East sovereign wealth funds and investment institutions said that China has been an ideal destination for innovative investment due to its vast market, strong scientific and technological strength, efficient and reliable supply chain, and rich talent pool, and they are willing to invest in China and plough into China.

Before the event, Ling Ji had a small-scale in-depth exchange with some representatives of Middle East sovereign wealth funds and investment institutions, as well as discussions with some representatives of Chinese enterprises attending the event.
